TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY is being developed with public plazas, streets and landscaped spaces extending for more than one kilometer north to south, forming approximately four hectares of public realm. Native planting is emphasized, and Link Biotope near the TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY RESIDENCE combines water and vegetation to support urban biodiversity. Despite the concentration of high-rise buildings, the district contains numerous landscaped pedestrian spaces and terraces. About a ten-minute walk away in Takanawa 3-chome is Minato City-operated Takanawa Park, covering 5,916.95 square meters. It includes mature trees, a pond, pavilion, children's play equipment, sandbox, throwing field and basketball goal, together with seasonal cherry blossoms and autumn foliage. Smaller neighborhood parks, including Sengakuji-mae Children's Playground, are also scattered through the area. Residents can therefore choose between contemporary urban landscaping in the redevelopment district and more traditional neighborhood parks for children's play, walking and everyday recreation.
