Shopping Around Takanawa Gateway: NEWoMan Takanawa and an Expanding Retail District

Shopping conditions around Takanawa Gateway have changed significantly with the development of TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY. The centerpiece is LUMINE's NEWoMan Takanawa, whose South, North and LUFTBAUM areas contain a broad range of shops and will mark their first anniversary on September 12, 2026. The mix goes beyond fashion and cosmetics to include food, household and lifestyle goods, restaurants, cafes and wellness services. Station premises also include outlets such as Starbucks and TOUCH TO GO, useful for commuters. Before redevelopment, the immediate station area had relatively few major retail facilities and residents often relied on Shinagawa. Many everyday needs can now be met directly around the station. Neighborhood supermarkets and small shops on the residential side of Takanawa remain more dispersed, however, so convenience varies by exact address. For major electronics or specialist shopping, the excellent rail connections to Shinagawa, Gotanda and Ginza remain useful.
