The streetscape around Aoyama-itchome changes significantly between the large office and mixed-use buildings lining Aoyama-dori and the residential streets behind them. Housing consists primarily of condominiums and apartments, ranging from older buildings to relatively recent high-end residences. Properties directly on major roads may offer shorter station access and brighter late-night routes, but can also be more exposed to traffic and road noise. Interior residential streets can be quieter, although slopes, road width and pedestrian activity should be checked at each address. Proximity to greenery around Gaien and the Akasaka Imperial Estate is another distinctive feature. Rather than treating all properties labeled 'Aoyama' as having the same environment, buyers and tenants should evaluate the exact address, such as Minami-aoyama 1-chome, Kita-aoyama 1-chome or nearby parts of Akasaka, together with orientation, floor level and surrounding buildings.
