Parks and Green Space Around Akabanebashi

Metropolitan Shiba Park is the principal green space around Akabanebashi. The Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association lists it as approximately a two-minute walk from the Oedo Line station. Spread across Shiba-koen 1-4, the park contains mature trees and seasonal plants, including cherry blossoms in spring, hydrangeas in summer, ginkgo and maples in autumn and plum blossoms in winter. Sports facilities include two baseball fields and three artificial-turf tennis courts. Views of Tokyo Tower from the park are one of the neighborhood's defining landscapes. Smaller Minato City parks and children's playgrounds are also distributed toward Mita. Although this is central Tokyo rather than a suburban natural environment, the combined greenery of Shiba Park and the Zojoji precinct provides useful space for walking, recreation and family outings.
