Safety and Disaster Preparedness Around Takeshiba
Map & surroundings
Kaigan 1-chome around Takeshiba Station falls under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Police Department's Atago Police Station. Takeshiba Koban is located at 1-12-2 Kaigan near the passenger ship terminal. The police note that the terminal area becomes busy around ship arrivals and departures but has fewer pedestrians at night, when patrols are strengthened. This does not itself indicate a high crime rate, but normal urban precautions remain appropriate, particularly around waterfront and business areas late at night. Disaster planning deserves special attention because Takeshiba is on Tokyo Bay. Minato City publishes separate maps for tsunami, storm surge, river and inland flooding, liquefaction and seismic shaking. The city's flood and inland-flood map was updated in July 2026, with an English edition added in September. Kaigan 1-chome is shown as part of an area where people may generally remain during certain earthquake scenarios, but appropriate action depends on the specific hazard and building. Prospective residents and property users should also check each building's emergency power, evacuation routes and flood-protection measures.
