Housing and Streetscape in Shirokane-takanawa
Map & surroundings
Shirokane-takanawa's housing market is defined by the coexistence of large redevelopment towers and older low- and mid-rise apartments and houses. The Shirokane 1-chome Eastern redevelopment delivered 626 homes, while the Eastern North project added 1,247, creating a major concentration of station-front high-rise housing. In contrast, smaller apartment buildings and houses remain around the Takanawa slopes and Shirokane shopping streets. Conditions can change within only a few hundred meters between major roads, the Furukawa corridor, higher ground and quieter side streets, so 'Shirokane-takanawa' does not describe one uniform residential environment. High-rise buyers should consider views, orientation, neighboring towers and elevator provision; lower-rise residents may place more weight on street width, gradients, sunlight and nighttime access. Ongoing redevelopment also means future construction and streetscape changes should be considered alongside current conditions.
