Living in Shirokane-takanawa as an International Resident

The Namboku and Mita lines make Shirokane-takanawa practical for international residents commuting across central Tokyo. The Namboku Line directly serves Azabu-juban, Roppongi-itchome and Nagatacho, while the Mita Line serves Mita, Hibiya and Otemachi. Internationally oriented institutions such as Temple University Japan Campus are also nearby. Minato City provides multilingual administrative and daily-life information and advertises a three-way interpretation service connecting a foreign-language interpreter, municipal staff and the resident. In September 2026 it also released an English version of its updated flood and inland-water hazard map. However, an international neighborhood does not mean every rental property follows identical rules for foreign-national tenants. Guarantor requirements, residence status, employment and income documents, and domestic emergency contacts still need to be checked property by property.
