Shirokane 1-6 chome and Takanawa 1-4 chome are under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Police Department's Takanawa Police Station. The station area combines residences, shops, major roads and narrow local streets, so neighborhood reputation alone is not enough for a safety assessment; police crime information and actual nighttime walking routes should also be checked. Minato City publishes hazard maps for tsunami, liquefaction, earthquake shaking, river and stormwater flooding, storm surge and landslides. The Furukawa River runs along the Shirokane side, and official documentation for the Shirokane 1-chome Eastern North redevelopment specifically identified past flooding associated with rising river levels as a neighborhood issue. Minato's combined flood and inland-water hazard map was updated in July 2026, with an English version published on September 1. Topography varies greatly between higher ground toward Takanawa and lower areas near the river, so property-specific checks are essential.
