Overview and Character of Shirokane-takanawa

Shirokane-takanawa Station is in Takanawa 1-chome and is served jointly by the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line and Toei Mita Line. Shirokane 1-chome, Takanawa 1-chome and Mita 5-chome all form part of its practical walking catchment. High-rise residences and mixed-use developments around the station coexist with older residential streets, temples and neighborhood shops around places such as Gyoranzaka and the Shirokane shopping streets. Large-scale redevelopment has transformed parts of Shirokane 1-chome, including completion of construction in the Shirokane 1-chome Eastern North redevelopment area in 2023. Yet quieter low- and mid-rise streets remain only a short distance away. Minato City recorded 6,261 residents in Shirokane 1-chome and 8,074 in Takanawa 1-chome as of July 1, 2026. Access toward Azabu-juban, Shirokanedai, Sengakuji and Tamachi also supports the area's role as a genuine residential center rather than simply an office district.
