Around Shirokanedai Station | Greenery, Historic Estates and Residential Calm
Map & surroundings
Shirokanedai Station is in Shirokanedai 4-chome, Minato City, and is served by the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line and Toei Mita Line. The neighborhood contains low- and mid-rise housing and apartment buildings, with restaurants and local businesses along Gaien Nishi-dori. Within walking distance are substantial cultural, medical and green assets, including the Institute for Nature Study, Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, the Institute of Medical Science of the University of Tokyo and its hospital, and Happo-en. Minato City's landscape materials describe Shirokane and Shirokanedai as high-ground residential districts characterized by modern estate architecture such as the former Asaka residence and former Hisahara residence, together with early Showa-period homes. Rather than relying on a large station-front shopping center, residents also use nearby Meguro, Shirokane-takanawa and Ebisu. The combination of central-city access, substantial greenery and nearby cultural, educational and medical institutions gives Shirokanedai its distinctive character. ([東京都交通局][1])
