Around Tameike-sanno Station: A Central Business District Linking Akasaka, Toranomon and Nagatacho
Map & surroundings
The Tameike-sanno area lies where Akasaka 1- and 2-chome, Toranomon, Roppongi 1-chome and Nagatacho meet, making it one of Tokyo's major central business districts. The station itself is officially located at Nagatacho 2-chome in Chiyoda City, but several exits open directly toward Akasaka in Minato City, so everyday activity naturally crosses the municipal boundary. The Akasaka side includes Akasaka Intercity AIR, ARK Hills, embassies, hotels, restaurants and condominium residences. To the east are the Prime Minister's Office and Diet area, while the established Akasaka commercial district extends westward. Minato City's resident register recorded 615 residents in Akasaka 1-chome and 3,010 in Akasaka 2-chome on September 1, 2026, confirming that this is not solely an office zone. Toranomon Hospital and Hie Shrine are also within the broader walking area, creating a compact mix of transport, healthcare, business and cultural resources.
