Hamamatsucho is not a conventional student neighborhood, but the Yamanote and Keihin-Tohoku lines and the Asakusa and Oedo lines at Daimon provide numerous routes to universities and vocational schools across Tokyo. Easy connections through major centers such as Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shinjuku and Ueno also suit students whose internships or part-time jobs are spread across different business districts. The area's concentration of offices, hotels, restaurants and services creates some employment opportunities. Historic and outdoor destinations such as Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens, Shiba Park and Zojoji also provide useful recreational and cultural resources. Housing, however, reflects a central business and redevelopment district rather than a traditional student market. This article therefore does not quote a generalized student rent figure without a consistent statistical basis. Students should compare rent, management charges, move-in costs, unit size and commuting expenses together.
