Shopping around Sengakuji and Takanawa Gateway

Historically, Sengakuji's immediate station area was oriented more toward convenience stores and small neighborhood businesses than major retail. Takanawa Gateway development has changed that considerably. JR East material states that NEWoMan Takanawa South and North opened on September 12, 2025 with 154 shops, LUFTBAUM added 11, and MIMURE opened on March 28, 2026. The overall NEWoMan Takanawa complex is approximately 60,000 square meters with around 180 shops. Residents now have major food, fashion, service and dining facilities within the wider walking area. Everyday grocery convenience still differs between individual homes on the Takanawa and Mita slopes, however. It is useful to evaluate access to the large Gateway commercial complex separately from the nearest supermarket or convenience services required for routine daily life. ([JR東日本][6])
