Overview and Character of Sengakuji

Sengakuji Station is in Takanawa 2-chome, Minato City, and connects the Toei Asakusa Line with the Keikyu Main Line. West of the station are Sengakuji Temple, famous for the graves of the Ako retainers, and the temple-lined residential neighborhoods of Takanawa and Mita. To the east, the area opens toward Takanawa Gateway Station and the large TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY redevelopment. Sengakuji Temple states that it is about three minutes from Station Exit 2 and five minutes from Takanawa Gateway's north gate. Minato City recorded 6,561 residents in Takanawa 2-chome and 3,776 in Mita 4-chome on September 1, 2026. Buildings along National Route 15 create a metropolitan streetscape of apartments, offices and hotels, while quieter temples and residential streets appear on the higher ground toward Takanawa and Mita.
