Business and Office Environment in Shiodome
Map & surroundings
Shiodome is one of Tokyo's major large-scale office districts. The redevelopment extending across roughly 31 hectares from the former Shiodome freight-yard area toward Hamamatsucho was organized into 11 blocks and designed as a mixed-use city combining business, commercial, cultural and residential functions. Large office towers cluster around Shiodome Station, many connected by underground passages and elevated decks that make movement between buildings relatively convenient. Shimbashi provides JR and subway services toward Ginza, the Tokyo Station area and Shinagawa, while Yurikamome offers direct access to waterfront business destinations including Tokyo Big Sight. Restaurants, hotels and meeting and cultural facilities are also nearby. Office rents and leasing conditions nevertheless vary greatly according to building scale, age, floorplate, views, technical specification and lease terms, so a single district average is not sufficient. Businesses evaluating space should also examine business-continuity planning, emergency power, telecommunications infrastructure and building-access controls.
