Shiodome from a Women's Everyday-Living Perspective

Many Shiodome towers are connected directly to stations through underground passages and pedestrian decks, making commuting comparatively comfortable during rain or after work. Shimbashi is also within walking distance, providing extensive dining, shopping and medical options. For women living alone, however, the high-rise business-district image should not substitute for a property-specific safety check. It is useful to inspect nighttime pedestrian activity, lighting, building entrances, auto-lock systems, elevator halls and security cameras along the actual route home. Blocks that are extremely busy during weekday business hours can become much quieter late at night or on weekends. Higashi-Shimbashi is under Atago Police Station. Shiodome also has relatively complex multi-level pedestrian routes, so the correct exit or route to a residence may be less intuitive on a first visit. A property should ideally be inspected not only in daylight but also by walking from the station at the time the resident would normally return home.
