Housing around Hinode differs from a conventional inland residential neighborhood. Kaigan 2-chome contains apartment buildings, but they stand close to Hinode Pier, warehouses, offices, elevated expressways, major roads and canals, making the district a mixed-use waterfront rather than a purely residential zone. Minato City's Basic Resident Register recorded 1,277 residents in 734 households in Kaigan 2-chome as of August 1, 2026, confirming a meaningful permanent residential population. Some mid- and high-rise apartments offer bay or canal views, although the actual outlook depends heavily on orientation and floor level. Prospective residents should evaluate not only views but also traffic and port noise, waterfront winds, real walking routes to supermarkets, and hazards such as storm surge and liquefaction. Redevelopment toward Hamamatsucho, Takeshiba and Shibaura 1-chome is improving surrounding urban functions, but the area's identity as an active port district remains clearly visible.
