Parks and Green Spaces around Shimbashi

A key local open space is Sakurada Park at 3-16-15 Shimbashi. Minato City lists the park at 2,671.07 square metres and notes that it serves both nearby office workers and families, with play equipment used by young children. It was created as part of post-Great Kanto Earthquake reconstruction planning and opened in 1931. Other smaller parks include Shiogama Park in Shimbashi 5-chome and Minamisakura Park toward Nishi-Shimbashi. The immediate station area is densely built and does not contain a large metropolitan park, but extending the walking area to around one kilometre gives access to major green spaces such as Hibiya Park and Hamarikyu Gardens. The latter provides a waterfront garden environment quite different from the towers of Shimbashi and Shiodome. Families should consider road crossings and traffic conditions on routes to local parks as well as simple map distance.
