Cafés and restaurants also provide everyday convenience and some employment opportunities. Housing, however, behaves differently from a typical student district. Rent can vary substantially according to building age, location, size and property grade, so an unsupported 'average student rent' would be misleading. Students should compare actual current listings and initial contract costs. Those with tighter budgets may need to consider smaller units, shared accommodation or properties farther from the station, balancing commuting time against housing expense.
