Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park and Green Space in Hiro-o
Map & surroundings
The defining green space of Hiro-o is Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park at 5-7-29 Minami-Azabu. Minato City records its area as 67,131.11 square meters. The park takes advantage of the natural elevation changes of the Azabu plateau, incorporating hills, streams and a pond into a landscape with a Japanese-garden character. Seasonal vegetation includes plum and cherry blossoms, dogwoods, irises, hydrangeas and autumn foliage. Children's facilities include combined playground equipment, swings, climbing structures, slides and a sandbox, while baseball and tennis facilities are also available. The Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library stands within the park. Its proximity to Hiro-o Station makes it useful for walking, children's activities, reading and exercise, significantly enhancing the surrounding residential environment. The park itself contains substantial slopes, however, so wheelchair and stroller users may wish to plan routes in advance. Access to a green space of this scale so close to central Tokyo is one of Hiro-o's strongest residential features.
