Overview and Character of Daimon

Daimon Station is a Toei Asakusa Line and Toei Oedo Line station serving the Hamamatsucho and Shibadaimon area of Minato City. To the west are Zojoji Temple, Shiba Park and Tokyo Tower; to the east is Hamamatsucho Station, served by JR lines and the Tokyo Monorail, followed by the Takeshiba waterfront. The district takes its name from the great gate associated with Zojoji. Its character changes markedly within a short walk. Hamamatsucho is dominated by major offices and redevelopment projects, Shibadaimon contains many smaller office buildings and restaurants, while the Shiba Park side has temples, parks and public facilities. Apartment housing is also found in Hamamatsucho and Shibadaimon. Weekdays bring substantial office-worker traffic, while weekends attract visitors heading toward Zojoji, Shiba Park and Tokyo Tower. Within a roughly 500-meter to one-kilometer radius, Shiodome, Takeshiba, Onarimon and Shibakoen also become part of the practical daily area.
