Parks and Green Space Around Shinagawa Station

The immediate Shinagawa Station area is highly urban, with many towers and hotels, but greenery becomes more noticeable as you walk into Takanawa. One of the clearest examples is Minato Municipal Takanawa Park at 3-18-18 Takanawa, which Minato City lists as approximately seven minutes on foot from the JR west exit. The park covers 5,916.95 square meters and includes playground equipment, a sandbox, exercise equipment, a ball court, basketball hoops, a pond and toilets. Trees include plum, cherry, maple and ginkgo, providing seasonal changes. Shinagawa may appear overwhelmingly commercial when viewed only from the station frontage, but a radius of roughly 500 meters to one kilometer brings quieter residential streets, temples and parks into the picture.
