Around Shinagawa Station | A Major Gateway Linking Takanawa and Konan

The Shinagawa Station area is both one of Tokyo's major regional transport hubs and a mixed urban district containing homes, hotels, offices and commercial facilities. Around the Takanawa Exit on the west side, Takanawa 3-chome has hotels, residential streets, temples and greenery, with a noticeably hilly and relatively calm environment. The Konan Exit on the east side developed rapidly from the 1990s onward and is now characterized by high-rise offices, residential towers and restaurants. Minato City records show that present-day Konan developed on reclaimed land whose formation began in the late Edo period. Major projects are also reshaping the area north of Shinagawa toward Takanawa Gateway, while redevelopment is progressing around Takanawa 3-chome in front of Shinagawa Station.
