Gaiemmae's proximity to Aoyama and Omote-sando gives the area a strongly international character, and it is familiar to overseas residents and employees of international businesses. Minato City provides a welcome package for foreign residents in English, Chinese and Korean covering municipal procedures, emergency contacts, waste disposal and everyday rules. The city also offers interpretation support for certain administrative interactions. The Ginza Line provides direct access toward Shibuya, Ginza and Ueno, with connections to other lines at Omote-sando and Aoyama-itchome. Shopping and dining are extensive. Rental housing, however, must be considered property by property: requirements relating to guarantor companies, documentation, residence status and emergency contacts differ among landlords and management companies. It is therefore important not to assume that every property in an internationally oriented neighborhood follows the same acceptance policy. Minato also distributes disaster-preparedness and daily-life information in multiple languages.
