Nearest station: Gaiemmae

The defining green space around Gaiemmae is Meiji Jingu Gaien, immediately north of the station area. Its ginkgo avenue, extending toward the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery, is one of the district's best-known landscapes and attracts large numbers of visitors in autumn. In addition to sports facilities, Gaien contains substantial tree cover and pedestrian space, allowing people to move from the dense urban environment of Aoyama-dori into a greener setting within minutes. Jingu Gaien is not operated in the same way as a standard municipal park, however, and individual facilities have their own hours and rules. The Jingu Gaien redevelopment project is currently progressing, with published plans addressing landscape preservation, new green space and improved pedestrian circulation. Routes may change as construction and facility renewal continue, so visitors should check current information before walking or using sports facilities.
