Overview and Atmosphere of Roppongi-itchome
Map & surroundings
Roppongi-itchome Station, numbered N05, is on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line in Minato City. The surrounding district is structured around major mixed-use developments including Izumi Garden, Sumitomo Fudosan Roppongi Grand Tower and ARK Hills, bringing offices, residences, restaurants, hotels and cultural facilities together within a compact area. Its character differs somewhat from the entertainment-oriented streets around Roppongi Station: high-rise business complexes sit close to quieter residential streets. Akasaka and Toranomon lie to the north, while Azabudai and central Roppongi extend to the south. Expanding the practical walking area to around one kilometre also brings Azabudai Hills within reach. ARK Hills provides landscaped open areas and pedestrian connections, and Suntory Hall is nearby. The terrain is hilly, however, and traffic is heavy along Roppongi-dori and roads beneath the Metropolitan Expressway. Anyone considering a home here should therefore check not only walking distance from the station but also slopes, road exposure, noise and the nighttime environment. The close integration of international business, high-end housing and cultural amenities defines the area.
