One of the most distinctive green spaces near Nogizaka is Nogino Park at 8-11-32 Akasaka. Minato City explains that the site was formerly the residence of General Nogi Maresuke and was donated to the city in accordance with his wishes, opening as a public park in 1913. The former residence and a brick stable remain within the grounds, which offer mature greenery despite their location beside Gaien-Higashi-dori. To the Aoyama side, the extensive Aoyama Cemetery creates another major concentration of trees and open space, while landscaped areas around Tokyo Midtown are accessible toward Roppongi. Nogizaka is not a district of continuous large neighborhood parks, but it benefits from a combination of historical grounds, urban greenery and nearby open spaces. Visitors wishing to enter historical buildings such as the former Nogi residence should check current public-opening dates.
