The defining open space is metropolitan Odaiba Marine Park. The park uses the inlet enclosed by old breakwaters and the historic Third Battery and includes the artificial Odaiba Beach, rocky shore areas and water-oriented recreation space. Views extend across Rainbow Bridge and the working waters of Tokyo Port, offering unusually direct access to the waterfront for a location close to central Tokyo. The Third Battery itself is now a historic park and is connected to Daiba by land. Walking, running and outdoor activities with children are natural everyday uses of the area. Swimming and water activities, however, can be subject to designated zones, seasonal programs and specific rules. Coastal weather also brings considerations such as strong winds, storm surge and thunderstorms. When assessing a home, it is useful to look beyond simple distance to the park and also observe visitor volumes during weekend events and the atmosphere after dark.
